Very old photo shot in 1969 during Peoples Park protest in Berkeley, CA. Nikon SLR; Kodachrome film. Since I've gotten a film scanner it's great going back and looking a work from the past and having the ablility to scan and print. I'm enjoying the digital darkroom.

Nice capture. I'm a fan of journalistic photography.
Very interesting. I like the interaction between the two people.

:+fav:

it good being fearless without weapon
when the guy with weapon facing you
is being that much afraid for the first time in his life

It seems as if the soldier was trying very hard to not pay attention to that man. It's high contrast compared to when National Guardsmen were hanging out all around the Airports after 9.11. All the civilians were trying their damnest to pretend the soldiers weren't there. I try to greet uniforms in passing and just leave it at that. They hate being harrased, but being ignored bothers them too, sometimes.

Recent events may remind people of the past, but nothing is ever just the same.

The black pocket of shadow in the truck adds to the division between them, even without being told the context, a person can understand some of the charge in this photograph.

Thanks for your observations about this photo.
wow...that's absolutel;y, incredibly cool. Great, sharp detail, very clean for a thirty five year old film image. My dad was at that protest, and this guy looks a lot like him, so doubly cool.
